It had to end like this. It was always going to end like this. This was Jordan Spieth's year.

Spieth took home the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup on Sunday by four strokes over Henrik Stenson, Danny Lee and Justin Rose on Sunday at East Lake. He shot a 1-under 69 to put the finishing touches on what was an incredibly historic season.

On Sunday, Spieth did it just like he did all season. With his putter. Long putts at Nos. 8, 9 and 11 for birdies put his playing partner (and closest competition) Stenson away pretty early in the day.

Spieth mostly cruised home, though he needed his putter again to save some lengthy pars late. He made par at the last seven holes as Stenson made a bit of a mess of things.

"This is incredible," Spieth told NBC. "This is an event where we approach it like a major championship. We stayed in it even though I didn't have my best ball-striking. Boy, that putter sure paid off."

It did. Spieth was the only golfer to make over 400 feet of putts at East Lake this week.

"I got to work, knowing we could still peak this week and that's what we did," Spieth said of missing the cut at the first two playoff events.

With the win, Spieth goes back to No. 1 in the world, wins $1.5 for winning the Tour Championship and and collects the $10 million FedEx Cup bonus to become golf's first $22 million man.

This, my friends, is what an $11.5 million putt looks like.

There's not much else to say here. Spieth's wins at the Valspar Championship, Masters, US Open, John Deere Classic and Tour Championship say it all. Spieth absolutely owned 2015.

"This is unreal. It really is. This year is unreal."

Well said, kid.

Grading the Tour Championship

Justin Rose: A

I don't even really care where he finished or what he shot. I'm just glad we got more peak cocky Rose. That's my favorite version of the Englishman.

But seriously, he was a double bogey away from putting a scare into Spieth late.

Finish: T2

Henrik Stenson: A-

Stenson hit a 60-foot putt on the 72nd hole for $1 million. What did you do today?

I actually felt a little bit bad for Stenson. Spieth's destiny was far too much for the Swede to overcome this week. Any other year, any other golfer and Stenson could have won his second FedEx Cup in three years. Not this year. Not with Spieth.

Finish: T2

Rory McIlroy: B-

McIlroy's 74 on Sunday was pretty disappointing, especially after he flirted with the top of the leaderboard all week. We kept waiting for McIlroy to break out in the big tournaments this season and he never did. Strangely, McIlroy actually putted very well at the Tour Championship. He finished seventh in strokes gained putting and 20th in strokes gained tee to green. He just couldn't get the two to match up this year.

Finish: T16

Ellie Spieth: A+

No explanation needed.

Finish: 1st
