Masters 2014: Marker Jeff Knox shoots 70, outplays Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy was one shot off the pace on Saturday....of his marker's score.
Somebody let this man in the 2015 tournament!
Augusta marker (and member) Jeff Knox, who plays with the first man off on Saturdays and Sundays at the Masters if there's an odd number of golfers who made the cut, shot a 70 on Saturday besting his playing partner Rory McIlroy by one shot.
Knox actually holds the member course record of 61 but that's a little bit different than playing on a Saturday from the tournament tees with a former No. 1 player in the world.
But the 70 isn't even his best score in the Masters. He once shot a 69 and has, over the years, played with Bubba Watson, Ernie Els, and Sergio Garcia.
McIlroy said he even wanted to ask him for some tips on how to play the National.
Rory was so impressed by marker Jeff Knox - especially w/ the flatstick - that he said he wanted to ask him to help read greens for him.— Jay Coffin (@JayCoffinGC) April 12, 2014
Quite a Saturday for a non-professional golfer. Going out for a quick 18 at Augusta (they played in three hours and five minutes) and besting a former No. 1.
How are you going to top that on Sunday?
