Patrick Reed is sort of a closer
Patrick Reed has closed out every 54-hole lead he's held.
Patrick Reed is a closer.
Or at least he is in the sample size we have on him which, granted, is quite small.
Reed led after 54 holes at the Wyndham Championship in 2013, Humana Challenge in 2014, and Cadillac Championship in 2014 and he won all three of those tournaments.
On Sunday Reed will play for his fourth (!) PGA Tour win in the last 12 months and a guaranteed spot on the Ryder Cup team.
He leads Seung-Yul Noh, Freddie Jacobson, and Marc Leishman by two strokes each heading to the final round of the Quicken Loans National.
Maybe it's the shutting down 54-hole leads and not the wearing red and black on Sundays that makes Reed most like Tiger Woods.
