"I didn't hit anybody, so that's a good thing."

Peyton Manning was talking about a practice round he played with Bill Belichick at Pebble Beach on Wednesday, not his Super Bowl performance, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Manning's late entry into a tournament already filled with a smattering of high-profile celebrities wouldn't at first glance seem like that big of a deal, but tournament director Steve John says it's actually helped move tickets:

"One day earlier, word of Manning's entry spread on Twitter and caused a bump in ticket sales, according to John."

Manning joins Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith as NFL starting QBs teeing it up this week.

"My quartet of quarterbacks -- isn't that hilarious?"  John said. "It's not our intent to fill the tournament with quarterbacks, but I'm pretty pleased with what we have this year."

Manning will play with Scott Langley in the first two rounds of the tournament.

I'll set the over/under at 0.5 shots before somebody yells "Omaha!" after a Manning shot on Thursday.
