Presidents Cup streaker 'wanted to add a little excitement to golf'
The Presidents Cup streaker talks about why she did it and how it all went down.
In case you didn't watch golf at all last week, there was a female streaker at the Presidents Cup (see video above). She traipsed down the 18th fairway on Sunday in front of Steve Stricker and Ernie Els and generally livened up what turned out to be a pretty boring final few days of golf.
Why did she do it? Well that's usually a dangerous question but her answers to Steph Wei of the excellent Wei Under Par are pretty funny.
"I thought, imagine if someone streaked through this, it’d be hilarious, so we joked about it,” said Webster, who was temping for a catering company in a hospitality tent, during a phone interview on Monday.
"I wanted to add a little excitement to golf because everyone seemed kind of depressed and like they weren’t having fun because of the weather. I hadn’t been to a lot of sporting events…I just thought it would be interesting to try something like this.
"The top streakers of all time were all men, so I decided I wanted to change that…It was golf — it’s quiet and boring — and it was to make the top streakers of all time (as a woman)."
Is there some sort of top streakers list that I don't know about?
Either way she told Wei she hadn't had a drop of alcohol and all she got was a $99 fine from the cops.
A pretty hilarious moment somebody who just wanted to bring a little excitement to a boring golf tournament. Having watched most of Saturday and Sunday, I can't say I blame her.
