Rory McIlroy is here at the Memorial to talk about his golf
Rory McIlroy was asked about Caroline Wozniacki on Wednesday at his Memorial Tournament press conference and he's not here to talk about that, guys.
We've arrived at Part III of the Rory McIlroy-Caroline Wozniacki breakup saga. Let's recap real quick:
Part I: Last week in England Rory says the breakup was "mutual -- we both thought it was the best for us."
Part II: This week Caroline says it happened on the phone and she thought it was a joke.
Part III: When asked to follow up what Wozniacki said McIlroy said Wednesday, "I'm here to talk about my golf."
Next question, please!
There wasn't really a follow-up but McIlroy did go on to say that he's not sure he made the right decision by going public with the fact that they broke up.
"I thought it was best that instead of letting it linger and rumors, just to have it right there as soon as possible."
That's totally fair -- sort of what Tiger Woods did in the beginning of his relationship with Lindsey Vonn. You don't want to be misrepresented by folks who don't actually know things so it's best sometimes to just put the truth out there.
Hopefully this will all go away soon and we can talk about how Rory has a really good chance to win US Open No. 2 in a few weeks.
