Russell Henley and Paula Creamer highlight terrific week of golf

Russell Henley won in a four-man playoff on the PGA Tour, Ross Fisher took the Tshwane Open, and Paula Creamer dropped an absolute bomb on the LPGA world on Sunday. Here's a look at everything you missed:

Top three stories

1. Honda Classic dumpster fire -- The last two hours of the Honda Classic were a mess. So much so that Sergio Garcia ended up two shots out of a playoff after barely making the cut with a birdie-birdie finish on Friday. Henley was a deserved winner in the end but it took a traipse through the desert to get there.

2. Tiger Woods withdraws -- It wasn't the story but it was definitely a story on the final day of the Honda Classic. Woods withdrew with a balky back and there are a lot of questions that need answering with the Masters on deck.

3. Paula Creamer's putt -- See below but it was an all-timer. If Tiger Woods had made it to win any tournament or it had been a major or the players we would be talking about it reverentially for decades.

Shot of the Week I

This from Paula Creamer to win the HSBC Women's Championship was just immense. I don't know that in terms of pressure or difficulty it will be topped on any tour this year.

Shot of the Week II

This from Russell Henley was great. If we had a "reaction of the week" he'd win that, too.

Shot of the Week III

I can't get over it...

Tiger Update

I had a few Twitter conversations about this on Sunday, but at what point does Woods just bail on the season and only play the four majors?

I'm kidding, kind of, but it just seems like the non-majors work against him more than they work for him these days. I know I'm totally ignoring his five wins last season and the fact that he nearly employs this method already.

Not to mention the fact that he's a WD at Doral and a MC at Bay Hill from not finishing a single final round in the US in front of the Masters.

This week in OWGR

Rory McIlroy moves from No. 8 to No. 6 in his climb back to the top. Russell Henley jumps from No. 110 to No. 46 and into the Masters. Ryan Palmer goes from No. 77 to No. 59 and is inching closer to No. 50 and a Masters invite himself.

Winner gets

Russell Henley gets $1.08 million for winning the Honda Classic. Ross Fisher gets $327,476 for winning the Tshwane Open.

Worst shot

Poor Ryan Palmer. He needed this putt to fall to get to 9 under at the Honda Classic. Johnny Miller called it "an explosion of the right hand."

Speaking of Paula Creamer...

Stat of the week I

Count: six WDs, nine MCs.

Stat of the week II

Tiger Woods has one more FedEx Cup point than you and I do right now. Rank on far left, points on far right.

Best of Twitter

Gary Player retweeted this so I have to include it:

Haha:

What a call!

Pretty strong:
