The Boo Weekley-Rory McIlroy matchup is the best
Beer, wine, and hunting.
Question: What is the best part of the Rory McIlroy-Boo Weekley first round pairing at the Match Play Championship?
Answer: There isn't a best part because the whole thing is zany and awesome.
McIlroy enters as a No. 1 seed, coming off two top five finishes in two events on the European Tour. Weekley hasn't played since the Sony Open at the beginning of January.
Earlier this week when Weekley was asked about how to beat McIlroy, he gave an epic answer.
"Drink some beer, drink some wine and let ‘er rip. Actually, I ain’t swingin’ it real well but you never know."
McIlroy was later asked about what he expected the pair to talk about on the course.
"I'm not sure we share many common interests. I've never been hunting before in my life."
All kidding aside, these are two of the better ball strikers in the world (and the winner will get another one in round two in either Harris English or Lee Westwood) and it should be a good first match.
Also, don't forget McIlroy lost as a No. 1 seed in the first round last year to Shane Lowry in one of the more exciting matches of the entire tournament.
