Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy paired at Doral
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are paired together at Doral, and there's no shortage of star power in the other groups.
Tiger Woods , Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald (who will inevitably be referred to as "that other guy playing with Woods and McIlroy" all week) will tee it up as the premier group at the WGC-Cadillac Championship on Thursday.
There is no cut at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, so everyone will play through the weekend. McIlroy will see his first Saturday of the year.
It's amazing to me that the scrutiny around a Woods-McIlroy pairing could get any greater, but McIlroy seemed to have accomplished that with his withdrawal last week. This week at Doral is going to be an absolute circus.
Here's how the groups were put together:
They have groupled players by World Ranking thru top 24 RT @slim_shady_8: any reasoning behind that??— Bob Harig (@BobHarig) March 5, 2013
And here are four other groups that we love:
Webb Simpson , Sergio Garcia and Graeme McDowell -- McDowell is going to lose his mind over how slow Garcia and Simpson play.
Phil Mickelson , Bubba Watson and Steve Stricker -- Just getting 25 percent of the Ryder Cup team back together.
Justin Rose , Louis Oosthuizen and Adam Scott -- In terms of star power outside of McIlroy, it would be tough to find three non-Americans with more of it than these three.
Charl Schwartzel , Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner -- Schwartzel is my pick to win this week. If I was at the tournament, I'd try to follow either these guys or the Rose-Oosthuizen-Scott trio.
