Tiger Woods talks about Rory McIlroy and previews Doral
Tiger Woods returns to the course where he's won three of his last six finishes.
Tiger Woods talked to the media shortly after Rory McIlroy finished up his press conference on Wednesday. Woods talked a little bit about his experience at Doral last year and about how he feels going into this year.
First, on having to withdraw from this tournament last year with an Achilles injury:
It was at a point that if I kept going, yeah, I could have pushed it to that point, just like when I came back and tried to play THE PLAYERS. I learned my lesson from THE PLAYERS and I didn't do it, and consequently I was able to go on and win the next tournament I played in, which was Bay Hill.
And on where he's at now:
I've made some pretty significant gains in my strength. That's one reason why I'm hitting it farther. I have my legs underneath me.
We are working on the same exact things. We are just trying to refine it. We are trying to maneuver the golf ball both ways, be efficient.
Woods then talked about Doral, where he has three top-10 finishes and three wins in his last six finishes:
This course and this tournament has been good to me over the years.
To say the least.
Finally, on Rory McIlroy 's struggles:
I'm sure you guys have taken it to him pretty good.
Yes, we have, but he did kind of bring it upon himself, and now we're getting past that. McIlroy's press conference on Wednesday affirmed that.
Maybe we can all just enjoy some golf this weekend.
