Two 59s on the European Tour on Friday, neither one is official
Jorge Campillo and Collin Nel both (BOTH!) shot 59 on the European Tour on Friday.
The European Tour was established in 1972, and though there have been many great moments, there has never been a 59.
And there were two.
And neither of them count.
The problem is that the golfers were playing "lift, clean, place" rules because of the weather so neither 59 is official.
That's the good news. The bad news for Colin Nel and Jorge Campillo? Reduced par and lift, clean, place mean the 59s are unofficial.— Jason Sobel (@JasonSobelGC) December 13, 2013
Still, over 40 years without a 59 and then two within 10 minutes of each other? That's just bizarre.
