VIDEO: Five-year anniversary of Tiger Woods' last major
Tiger Woods took over the golf world at Torrey Pines in 2008 at the US Open. Pretty crazy to think that was a half-decade ago.
It's pretty crazy to think this week's US Open will be the 20th (!) major since Tiger Woods last captured one at Torrey Pines in 2008, but it's true. We've gone a full five years since Woods tasted the sweetness of a major championship at that year's US Open, so I thought we should all reflect on merely how great that 14th major title was for him.
Man, that was a great US Open, wasn't it?
People always talk about the putt on No. 18 but the drama permeated the week. Woods playing up his knee injury (kidding ... kind of ... I think), chipping in on Saturday, going extra holes (!) on Monday in the playoff before finally knocking off Rocco Mediate.
It really was a major that had everything we ask for them to deliver. I can only hope this year's version comes close to living up to that.
