VIDEO: Here's John Daly winning the Open with a mullet
John Daly won his second of two majors in 1995 over Costantino Rocca in a playoff.
John Daly won the 1995 British Open at St. Andrews which is great and all but how about that Reebok pullover and that haircut?!
Daly shot a final-round 71 then beat Costantino Rocca in a four-hole playoff by four strokes after Rocca made the most improbably putt at the 18th hole you might ever see in a major (watch the proceedings from 1:20 on).
The real winner, though? Sportswriters that week. Here's Rick Reilly on Daly's tour of St. Andrews:
"Or maybe it was the fine selection of vendors St. Andrews offered from hole to hole. Daly tried them all. Battling sugar cravings that stem from his ongoing recovery from alcoholism, he was a consuming mass, a moveable feast, swallowing not only huge chunks of yardage but also every Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chocolate-chip muffin the Old Course could sell him. 'They're those good kind,' he said. 'The kind you can get at Shell stations back home.'"
I mean seriously, that haircut!
