VIDEO: Rory McIlroy hit a golf ball 436 yards at the Scottish Open
Not only did Rory McIlroy break the course record on Thursday at Royal Aberdeen but he reach the green of a 436-yard par-4 hole.
I've watched this a couple of times now and it still seems like a joke. I don't care if the hole was a straight drop off a cliff, 436 yards off the tee is 436 yards off the tee.
McIlroy shot a 7-under 64 on Thursday at the Scottish Open and this drive on the 13th hole, a 436-yard par 4, certainly didn't hurt. He actually drives it into the group ahead of his.
McIlroy then added a pretty spectacular line:
Great line from Rory on driving the 436yd 13th: "I told Poulter [in the group ahead] it was a 3-wood," MM— Bunkered Golf Mag (@BunkeredOnline) July 10, 2014
He went on to make birdie (I would hope he did) and followed that up with another birdie at No. 14 to get to his final tally of 7 under.
The drive was impressive, for sure, but that 64 was something special.
McIlroy is playing the Scottish Open for the first time since 2009.
