VIDEO: This Ian Poulter documentary is pretty inspiring
You might not like Ian Poulter but his story is one I think pretty much everybody can get behind.
I think Ian Poulter is probably known (unfairly or not) by a lot of Americans as the crazy bug-eyed dude who's a Yankee slayer in the Ryder Cup.
He's the brash, outspoken European who cares more about his cars than winning majors.
Those things may or may not be true but for context I think his background matters. He was, as he says, the kid in the pro shop selling Mars bars and now he's the No. 24 player in the world and has 12 PGA/European wins to his name.
He qualified under the most severe pressure and now he's made the most of his opportunities.
That looks like, well, if I'm being objective that's sort of the epitome of (gasp) the American Dream.
