SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Hideki Matsuyama hit the shot of the 2016 PGA Championship so far on Friday with his approach on the second hole.
In a tournament that's been devoid of many spectacular highlights, Matsuyama's hole out for eagle on the par 4 from the fairway brought some roars from the gallery. It was the first hole out eagle on a par 4 over the first two days at Baltusrol Golf Club.

That hole out moved Matsuyama up the leaderboard to 3 under. The Japanese star has not fared well at the last two majors, missing the cut at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship, but thanks to ball-striking like he showed on the second he's in contention early at the PGA Championship.
