Who Fred Couples should pick for the Presidents Cup
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Brandt Snedeker are already in but who will Fred Couples exercise his two captain's picks on?
Fred Couples will make his captain's picks for the Presidents Cup later on today and he will have to pick two golfers to slide in with the following 10 who finished in the top 10 in Presidents Cup points:
The Cup takes place in early October when the United States will compete against golfers from non-European countries in a Ryder Cup-style event.
The problem Couples is facing is how many truly great golfers he's trying to pick from. Do you go with the classic pick of Jim Furyk? The hot pick of Jordan Spieth? The people's choice of Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler?
Here's an overview from Luke Kerr-Dineen of who Couples is probably looking at:
The Couples dilemma. Which 2 would you pick? Simpson D Johnson Furyk Bubba Rickie Weekley Spieth— Luke Kerr-Dineen (@LukeKerrDineen) September 3, 2013
Who he should pick
I think Spieth is a no-brainer. He's been absurdly good this year and his youth would be a nice injection into the sometimes-drab personalities of Tiger Woods, Jason Dufner, etc. I think the other pick should be Dustin Johnson. He went 3-0-0 last year at the Ryder Cup and has two top 10 finishes in his last last five events (including the PGA Championship).
Who he will pick
I think Couples will probably go with Spieth (so much media pressure!) and Jim Furyk.
