Els reaches deal with Callaway

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Ernie Els reached an equipment deal with Callaway Golf on Wednesday. Terms of the endorsement contract weren't disclosed.

The South African star worked out a deal last week with Acushnet -- the maker of Titleist equipment and FootJoy shoes -- to end his contract a year early.

Callaway said the three-time major champion will begin the deal by using a Callaway ball and bag and wearing its logo on the sides and back of his cap. He will work with the company to determine which clubs best suit his game.
