Nickent Golf makes a big push this season

Nickent Golf, a small but growing equipment company that continues to win over players both on tour and in the amateur ranks, is making a big push this season with drivers, fairway woods and hybrids.

Among the new products: a classically shaped 4DX driver, square shaped 3DX driver and a limited edition 3DX Pro fairway wood.

Additionally, Nickent offers one of the largest selections of fairway woods, utility clubs and ironwoods around, with the new 4DX series making its debut this season as a counterpart to the company’s ongoing 3DX line.

Finally, Nickent is offering a new series of specialty wedges called ARC, which stands for Accelerated Rebound Core, in lofts ranging from 50 to 62 degrees.

All the new equipment is the handiwork of master designer John Hoeflich, who joined Nickent in 2005 after distinguished stints at Tommy Armour, Titleist, TaylorMade and Liquidmetal.

With a modest endorsement budget, Nickent has a small staff of tour pros playing its clubs and many others using its products without upfront payment. Its PGA Tour team includes Jeff Quinney and Ryan Armour. Meanwhile, Nickent represents the third-largest equipment roster on the Nationwide Tour, where 20 players are using its 4DX driver and other clubs.

“We have been having a lot of fun out there,” said Josh Trivett, Nickent’s director of tour operations. “Anytime you can help someone’s game. .. you know you have something special.”

Here’s a selected look at what’s new from Nickent Golf.

4DX DRIVERS

The 4DX and 3DX Square drivers offer varying characteristics in shape, playability and personal preference.

The 4DX driver has a list price of $399.

Both have 460cc clubheads and share the DX label, which in Nickent terminology stands for “directional control.”

The 4DX driver comes in two moedels, Draw Spec and Tour Spec, and each features an ultrathin titanium crown and lightweight titanium body. Weight has been strategically located away from the crown, and is augmented by a screw-less weight system that utilizes tungsten-polymer XW inserts. By maneuvering the XW inserts, engineers can create the Draw Spec driver for an anti-slice setup and the Tour Spec driver for a flatter trajectory and greater workability.

“XW is a very smart directional control technology,” said designer Hoeflich. “It gives us the flexibility to maneuver a significant amount of weight without taking away from our tour-driven design.”
