Highlights: By O’Meara’s own admission, he’s been a very good player, not a great one. Is that enough? Perhaps so, given the credentials of the other candidates. He won two majors in the Tiger Woods era, which in itself amounts to a miracle. He was the tour player of the year in 1998, is a former U.S. Amateur champion and a five-time Ryder Cup player. By contemporary standards, that’s darned strong.
