Vucinich's 64 leads Senior PGA Professional

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Roy Vucinich shot a course-record 8-under 64 on Thursday at the Rees Jones-designed Andalusia Country Club to take the first-round lead in the Senior PGA Professional National Championship.

The 61-year-old Vucinich, from Moon Township, Pa., had a three-stroke lead over Mike San Filippo of Hobe Sound, Fla., the 2002 and 2005 champion who opened with a 5-under 67 at Toscana Country Club's South Course in Indian Wells.

"I really wasn't hitting it where I was looking," Vucinich said. "But the putter was there and it made all the difference. It's definitely the best round I've ever had in a national championship. There are days in golf you don't forget, and this was one of them."
