Additionally, Adjustable Flight Technology allows golfers to change a swing-weight screw in the sole and adjust the hosel for playing preferences.

"We distinguished the King Cobra L5V ... with three major technical advancements," Scott Rice, Cobra director of research and development, said in a statement. "Its club face is the largest we've ever made, maximizing ball speed across the face. We utilized lightweight carbon composite to shift the center of gravity lower so more of the effective hitting area is where most golfers strike the clubface. We also employed an all-new technology to allow golfers to choose between a standard and draw-biased club face setting."

In test sessions among a variety of golfers assembled by CBSSports.com, reviewers labeled the new Cobra drivers "should consider." Players praised the feel and look of the club, including a reduced scallop on the composite crown from the predecessor model. The driver was very solid, workable and long, but quite a few testers said it was "too loud."

Suggested retail price for the L5V driver is $480.

Transition-S set

Geared for players who need the most in game improvement technology, the new King Cobra Transition-S integrated set comes in three sub-models: standard men's, seniors' and women's.

The new set tweaks the game improvement features offered on Cobra's predecessor Transition set to help golfers get the ball airborne easier from a variety of lies.

"The new Transition-S set features a wide-sole radius design, providing a low and deep center of gravity to promote higher launch and more forgiving turf interaction," stated Rice. "The hybrid irons (6, 7) also have an increased heel-biased center of gravity for draw-biased ball flight and high launch."

There are three different club types in the Transition set: utility metals Nos. 3-5; hybrid irons 6-7; and wide-sole irons 8-PW. Matching Gap and Sand wedges also are available.

The hybrid irons have hollow body construction for an increased Moment of Inertia, which relates to stability on off-center hits. The wide-sole irons are urethane-filled cavitybacks designed to provide a soft feel.

In test sessions, our CBSSports.com reviewers recommended the Transition-S set as "should consider" for mid to higher handicap players. With a wide topline and sole, the clubs have an easy set up at address, are easy to swing and "help to lift" the ball.

Suggested retail price for a set (3-PW) of the Transition-S clubs with graphite shafts is $840.
