Fisher leads Kim 1-up in World Match Play final

CASARES, Spain (AP) -Ross Fisher is leading Anthony Kim 1-up at the halfway point of the 36-hole World Match Play Championship final.

In cool, overcast conditions Sunday at the Finca Cortesin golf course, two bogeys on the back nine cost Kim, who rallied three times to even the match but allowed Fisher to take the lead for the fourth time on the 16th hole.

"I made two bogeys which obviously cost me two holes, but other than that I played pretty solidly," Kim said. "I'm on the right pace. The ball just hasn't dropped, but I know it will in the afternoon."

The damp weather - after days of warm sun - had the course playing longer and to Fisher's advantage.

"Hopefully if it stays like that it should suit me because it feels a lot more European than American," said the Englishman, who won the opening hole.

Kim had a chance to even the score for a fourth time on the 17th hole, but his putt stopped on the lip. But in or out, the match will be decided on the 18 holes still to play.

"It's whoever gets the ball in the hole on the last 18," Kim said. "You can hit it in some bad spots off the tee and get away with it."

Allenby beat Masters champion Angel Cabrera in the 18-hole third-place match. The Australian, who won the 18th hole to force sudden death, sank a putt from off the green in the playoff to secure the ?250,000 ($368,000) prize.
