Tiger's words were strong but will change follow? Doubtful
By Mike Freeman | CBSSports.com National Columnist Follow MikeLet's first get this out of the way: Many men cheat. We do.
At different points in our testosteroned lives, once we get past dirty mags, we step out. We creep. It's a truism like bacon makes everything taste better.

Maybe sex addiction therapy will cure Woods of his relentless pursuit of all things nookified but I'm not buying it. Woods can cite Buddhism all he likes, but even the Dalai Lama doesn't believe Woods. Buddhism can't save Woods from Booty-ism.
The photo op performed by Woods looked convincing but there were red flags that Woods remains an arrogant jerk and really hasn't changed all that much. In fact, only a sucker or someone with a financial interest in Woods would buy into what he's selling (see: Finchem, Tim).
Extremely rich men don't change. They believe in themselves to the point of extremism. Their bank accounts and PR people serve as fallout shelters and armor. Woods is no different. He continues to surround himself with "yes" people. His sycophants and suck-ups in the media -- and there are a great many of them -- continue to armor Woods.
He's the most arrogant athlete in the world and that has both helped and hindered. It helped Woods become the best golfer in history and it hurt him because Woods started to believe, as he admitted, he was untouchable.
He still believes that. Trust me. Very little with Woods has changed despite the well-crafted speech and coordinated mommy hug.
And I'm not the only one who doesn't believe him. Elin Woods doesn't either. If she did, she would've been there.
Where was Elin? She was off somewhere laughing hysterically at Woods' speech and keeping her noon appointment with Gloria Allred.
Elin seems like a smart cookie that only made the mistake of trusting Woods. But now Elin knows and she will be the toughest person to win over. Elin Woods will become the scorned wife equivalent of Erin Brockovich.
Woods did what many men do but even for us piggish men he crossed a line of excess that should make all of us wary of him for many, many years. One photo op shouldn't silence your doubt.
Some of the best pieces of evidence that Woods hasn't changed came in the mini-lectures to the media sprinkled throughout his manifesto.
"I have always tried to maintain a private space for my wife and children," Woods said. "They have been kept separate from my sponsors, my commercial endorsements. When my children were born, we only released photographs so that the paparazzi could not chase them. However, my behavior doesn't make it right for the media to follow my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter to school and report the school's location. They staked out my wife and they pursued my mom. Whatever my wrongdoings, for the sake of my family, please leave my wife and kids alone."
It is pretty awful that Woods' kids were followed but they wouldn't be followed if Woods hadn't been hitting every waitress and counter clerk in his path.
The protocol for the photo op itself shows Woods hasn't truly changed. If he had, he would have taken his beating like a man, answered questions, and then moved on.
To be fair, there was a degree of self-flagellation but the apology seemed more cover than contrition. The real Woods is in there, hiding still, waiting for the right moment to return.
You can believe Woods all you like.
I won't. I can't. Not yet.
