Expert Picks: Doral

Each week during the official PGA Tour season, CBSSports.com's Steve Elling and The Augusta Chronicle's Scott Michaux identify nine players to watch in three distinct categories -- favorites, tweeners and longshots. The picks are based on a combination of homework, guesswork and just plain instinct.

Note: Odds courtesy of Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book and/or Golfodds.com.

On to this week's picks:

Elling's Picks Michaux's Picks
Martin Kaymer Odds: (10/1)
All hail numero uno. He won at Match Play, then took last week off. He was T3 at Doral last year. Masters favorite?
Martin Kaymer Odds: (10/1)
We should start getting used to this guy winning a lot for a long time. Improved here every year up to T3 in '10.
Graeme McDowell Odds: (15/1)
Of the heavyweights who played last week at Honda, McDowell was best of bunch at T6, which is exactly where he finished at Doral last year.
Charl Schwartzel Odds: (30/1)
While we're at it, get used to seeing this guy's name in the favorites column. 2010 runner-up has serious game.
Phil Mickelson Odds: (15/1)
This is often where he starts to emerge from his West Coast siesta. Note that we said "often" and not "always."
Geoff Ogilvy Odds: (30/1)
I'd be stunned if 2008 winner doesn't threaten to earn a fourth WGC trophy this week. He's rising again.

Under the Radar
Elling's Picks Michaux's Picks
Charl Schwartzel Odds: (30/1)
His PGA Tour rookie season continues. He was narrowly beaten out by mentor and pal Ernie Els here at Doral last year.
Tiger Woods Odds: (12/1)
Time to start getting in game shape for the Masters. This will soon be a home game for him.
Geoff Ogilvy Odds: (30/1)
Finished T3 and with a win on consecutive years in 2007-08, but fell to T40 and T45 the last two tries. He's an uneven Aussie.
Graeme McDowell Odds: (15/1)
Being a major winner took his game to a whole 'nother level. Shot 64 on Sunday at Honda to come in hot.
Tiger Woods Odds: (12/1)
Tee-Dub is under the radar? How else can he be characterized? Starting in 2007, his last four years at Doral are won, fifth, T9 and DNP.
Phil Mickelson Odds: (15/1)
Phil spent his brief time off campaigning for fellow arthritis sufferers and getting a quick practice round in at Augusta.

Dark Horses for Courses
Elling's Picks Michaux's Picks
Robert Allenby Odds: (60/1)
Aussie has had consistently good luck at Honda and Doral, located near his U.S. home base. Top 20 at Doral in three of past four years.
Jim Furyk Odds: (40/1)
Tied for 2nd, 3rd in this event at Doral. Once waited overnight to watch Scott Hoch make a winning putt here.
Padraig Harrington Odds: (50/1)
We're not sure he's assembled all the parts, but he's four top-10s at Doral, including a T3 last year. Too good to stay down for long.
Ernie Els Odds: (50/1)
Never count a defending champ, even if his results are a little erratic so far this year. Ernie likes Doral.
Jeff Overton Odds: (60/1)
When he gets hot, can stay that way for weeks. Was T6 at Honda and just rented a condo in South Florida. This marks his first trip to WGC at Doral.
Nick Watney Odds: (20/1)
Nearly nailed this thing down two years ago when he ran runner-up to Phil. Ties for 6, 5, 6 and 9 this year.
