JOHANNESBURG (AP) -The Volvo Golf Champions will stay in South Africa for at least another year after the European Tour tournament was moved out of Bahrain because of security concerns.
Organizers said Monday that the 2013 event will be held at Durban Country Club on South Africa's east coast from Jan. 10 to 13.
Local favorite Branden Grace won this year's version at the Fancourt Links course in South Africa's Western Cape after organizers decided it couldn't be held in Bahrain because of instability in the Gulf state.
The decision to remain in South Africa adds to the country's growing golf portfolio after it was also awarded two new European Tour events last month.
Bahrain's ability to host sporting events was put in question following problems at this year's Formula One race.
