Woods' comeback short, Europe finally on board

MEDINAH, Illinois (AP) -Europe got its first point of the afternoon matches when Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker's comeback fell short.

Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald beat Woods and Stricker 1-up when Stricker's 7-footer for birdie lipped out. But the Americans are ahead 10-5 and will go into Sunday's singles with at least a four-point lead. They need 14 1/2 points to regain the Ryder Cup.

Woods stuck his tee shot to 4 feet on the par-3 17th only to see Donald do him just a bit better. Garcia had a chance to win the 18th hole - and the match - but his 21-foot birdie attempt missed.

But Stricker couldn't come through, either, and Europe had only its second point of the day.
