Nirat, Dyson lead early in second round at rain-soaked Singapore Open

SINGAPORE -- Thailand's Chapchai Nirat and England's Simon Dyson shared a one-stroke lead midway through the second round of the Singapore Open on Friday when play was suspended because of thunderstorms with half the field yet to take the course.

Both golfers were at 6 under when play was stopped early for the second successive day. Chapchai had nine holes left to play and Dyson had five.

Thunderstorms on Thursday forced organizers to complete the first round on Friday morning.

Chapchai had six birdies in a 6-under 65 to surge into the lead after the first round, but Dyson caught him with four birdies at the start of the second.

Rory McIlroy shot a 1-under 70 in the first round, then had a bogey and double bogey to start the second before getting back to par with three birdies. He has six holes remaining in his round.
