Europe losing out to PGA Tour in battle for stars

  •

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -The European Tour has no problem producing star players. It's keeping them that is the challenge.

Several players from Europe's Ryder Cup-winning team this year already spend much of their time in the United States and the list is only growing.

Lee Westwood has moved from England to Florida, while big-hitting Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts told The Associated Press that he will cut his European Tour tournaments from more than 33 in 2012 to the minimum 13 next year so he can play a full schedule on the PGA Tour.

Colsaerts says "it's a stronger tour and you have the best players in America."

Ryder Cup stars Luke Donald, Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell are already based across the Atlantic, and it all comes down to more money and less travel.
