NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario -- John Daly proved that even his own designs can't contain his long-distance drives.
Daly viewed his new golf course design from a private plane Wednesday morning and then easily cleared the green with a drive on the 300-yard, par-4 11th hole at Thundering Waters Golf Club.
The British Open and PGA champion toured the 275-acre parcel of land on which the course is being built and gave the project an outstanding review.
"It's one of the prettiest properties I've ever seen in my life, and it's so cool to finally do a golf course outside the U.S.," Daly told the Niagara Falls Review. "It's going to be an unbelievable public golf course. There are thousands of country clubs that won't even compare to it."
Thundering Waters, scheduled to open in June, is the second facility designed by Daly's firm.
Some holes will be lengthy even by the standards of some of the world's longest hitters. The course measures 7,322 yards -- including a 661-yard par-5 hole -- from the back tees.
