MaxPreps.com and the National Guard Launch the Tour of Champions for a 5th Consecutive Year
Tour of Champions crosses the United States to congratulate elite high school football programs on a superb season
Dec. 9, 2009 - Maxpreps.com, the online high school sports leader and a division of CBS Interactive, today announced they will officially kick off the 5th year of the MaxPreps Tour of Champions, presented by the National Guard on Dec. 18th when the Bingham High School Miners (South Jordan, UT) are recognized for their excellence in football.
Over the past four years, MaxPreps.com has been honoring the nation's elite high school football programs alongside the National Guard. Beginning with 10 schools in the inaugural year of the MaxPreps Tour of Champions (2005-06), the 5th year anniversary will start off in Utah and by March 2010 MaxPreps.com and the National Guard will have visited 50 schools across the United States, awarding high school football programs with the coveted National Guard National Ranking trophy.

Since its inception, the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the National Guard has been able to recognize elite programs and athletes. Past winners of the MaxPreps Tour of Champions National Guard National Ranking trophy include national high school football powerhouses such as St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), De La Salle (Concord, CA) and Southlake Carroll (Southlake, TX).
Former athletes that have been recognized during the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the National Guard include Southern California RB Joe McKnight (John Curtis Christian High School, River Ridge, LA), Boise State QB Kellen Moore (Prosser High School, Prosser, WA), Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor (Jeannette High School, Jeannette, PA), and Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (Highland Park High School, Dallas, TX).
