CBS SportsLine.com Columnist Receives National Award

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 26, 2000) - Dennis Dodd, CBS SportsLine.com's college football senior writer, has earned a first-place award in the annual Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Best Writing Contest for the second consecutive year.

Dodd is the only writer for an Internet publication who has won in the FWAA Best Writing Contest, according to executive director Steve Richardson, who announced the contest results. SportsLine.com, Inc., (NASDAQ:SPLN), the leading global Internet sports media company, publishes CBS SportsLine.com (http://cbs.sportsline.com).

One of more than 50 entries, Dodd's winning story was in the Immediate Deadline Reporting category for a report filed on the national championship football game between Florida State and Virginia Tech that took place Jan. 4, 2000. Last year Dodd won first place in the Commentary/Analysis division for his column about the mid-season resignation of Tommy Bowden.

In addition to his first-place award, Dodd also received an honorable mention in the Feature/Profile division of this 8th annual FWAA writing contest for a feature on Eric Thunander, a deaf player and honor student who overcame many difficult family circumstances to excel in college football.

The contest is open to the membership of the FWAA, one of the nation's oldest organizations for professional sports journalists. FWAA members specialize in college football; 64 writers entered more than 150 stories from publications ranging from small daily newspapers to the largest-circulation metropolitan papers, and from specialty publications such as Nebraska Football to the international magazine Sports Illustrated.

"Dennis' work exemplifies the standard of excellence we've set for editorial content on CBS SportsLine.com," said Joe Ferreira, vice president, programming for SportsLine.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLN), publisher of CBS SportsLine.com. "To have Dennis' work again recognized as the best by his peer group, along with our consistent ability to break stories in the sports world, demonstrates that the editorial content on CBS SportsLine.com is the best available sports content not just on the Internet, but in any medium."

The FWAA will formally recognize Dodd at its annual meeting during the week of the national championship game to be played at the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3, 2001, in Miami. Submissions came from the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, San Jose Mercury News, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Sports Illustrated, Miami Herald, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Seattle Times, Oakland Tribune, Memphis Commercial-Appeal, Columbus Dispatch, Ann Arbor News, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Austin American-Statesman, Omaha World-Herald, and others.
