Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

That's right if the Dodgers keep winning they can't lose.  Hey I swear I didn't steal that from Yogi--but it sure wouldn't surprise me if he'd said it.

Yep.  I have it all figured out.  It appears we're in control of our own fate.  That being said our destiny is not set in stone.  That's' right I said it of all people- Mr. Upbeat.

So how about we hold off on popping those corks from the champagne?

I guess it makes sense that if most people were quick to write off the Dodgers they'd be just as quick or apparently even quicker to call the West Won.  Saying "the race is over" just isn't the case. Even if there's a lot of Diamondback fans giving up that sure doesn't mean the Diamondbacks have.  I think a sweep over the Giants who have been battling like they were playing for rings as one Giant Fan put it (seriously it was said) pretty much says it all.

Now I didn't say I didn't like our chances. In fact, I'm downright giddy with almost certainty. All I'm saying is how 'bout we hold off on the threads of "who's next" until we've actually sealed the deal?

Think Blue!

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

Congratulations to the Dodgers, and to their fans, who had sit through a season, that showed practically no promise since the begining of May. Hopefully your pitching will "show-up" in the playoffs. I don't expect anyone to pitch to Manny, so I hope your 2nd baseman's bat speaks as loud as his .... oh wait it does (according to him), because he will have to carry offense. Good luck! I hope my team makes it that far!

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

The Dodgers are obviously in the catbird seat. I wouldn't swap places with Arizona, period.

That said, the Dodgers need to keep playing well. It's not just about securing the NL West. It's also about having the team playing its best ball going into the playoffs.

Look at Colorado last year. They got hot at the end and wound up in the World Series as a wild card team.

Or look at St. Louis a couple years back. The Cardinals got hot at the end and won the whole shootin' match after winning less than 90 games in the regular season.

That's the model for LA to make some noise this year. I certainly don't want to be the guy saying, "I'm just happy to be here." That's for spring training and making the team. The playoffs is for players and teams that expect to win.

Another DD checks in.... The Diamondbacks swept the Cubs last year in the NLCS - remember?

Why would any Dodger fan remember that.?  It was already football season for us.

It ain't over till the fat lady ............

As the original poster of this thread...you'll see that I'm in complete agreement with you there Dean of The Desert.  That being said I like your fighting spirit although I do hope its all for not.

May the fat lady start warming up...she'll in all hopes be on in just a few games.

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

Another DD checks in.... The Diamondbacks swept the Cubs last year in the NLCS - remember?  Some Dodger people think the playoffs are starting tomorrow.  Wrong!   The Dodgers lost today to the Giants 1 - 0.  The Giants taking two out of three at Dodger Stadium.  The Diamondbacks won something like 19 - 4 (?)  today in Colorado taking two out of three away games.   The Dodgers still have to play 3 games against the Giants in SF and the 3 against the Padres,  who can surprise.  The Dodgers lead  is only 2 1/2 games as of today.  The magic number is still 6 games.  The Diamondbacks have 4 games in tough St Louis and 3 gmes at home against the Rockies.  It ain't over till the fat lady ............

Guess you'll be treat'n me to a cheesesteak if this comes to fruition.

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

Don't look past the Phillies, kids They have a mostly veteran club that can hit major league pitching, (or minor league as the case may be), and depending who plays where, well we know how that played out!

------just a thought

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

Interesting Facts TrueBlue,

Those were home games that you're referring to.  We actually went 2-2 for that 4 game series.  Of course when we played them in May we were swept by the Cubs in Chicago.  That said having Blake & Manny certainly makes our prospects for playing any team much more promising.

Thanks for your posts.

Dodger Diehards Decide Dodgers Destiny?

I like the Dodgers chances in the playoffs, even if they go up against the Cubs. Last time the Dodgers didn't score against them and held the Cubs under 10 runs for the series. Now the Dodgers have Casey Blake and Manny, which is the reason the Dodgers will fair better against them. Stay Hot.
