Giants have an outside shot

I think the San Francisco Giants have a legitimate shot at the division. Some of you will laugh, but it's not as far fetched as you would think. They have 29 games left, and are 9 games behind. 7 of those games are against the Diamondbacks, who have lost 4 in a row and just got swept by the Padres. If order for SF to win the division they have to win at least 4 of these games and likely 5. They also have at six games against the Dodgers, and if they can win 3 or 4 of these, of which the series has gone 705 so far by LA. They are right there. The Giants also have 4 games against the Padres, and have been 10-4 against them this year. They also get 3 games against the Pirates, who have a worse record than the Giants, but did sweep SF last time. No the Bucs are slumping, the rookies are playing and Jason Bay is gone. There are three games against the Reds and 6 against the Rockies. The Giants have a 7-8 records against those teams this year.

The good thing for SF is Arizona has to play the Reds 7 times in September. St. Louis has a 74-60 record and is fighting for the wild card. Likely the Giants have to win 21 of 29 to finish the season, and have Arizona only win 11 of 29. The Rockies made a run last year, and with Tim Lincecum being great, Barry Zito finding his way, Matt Cain hanging in there, Brian Wilson leading the league in saves and Jonathon Sanchez back in action there is always a chance. It's an outside chance, but not as far fetched as some would have you believe. Either way, this team will be so exciting to watch in 2-3 years. Go Giants!

Giants have an outside shot

Then again by Zito and the rest giving up 11 runs the outside chance gets more and more outside.
