The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

Posted on: September 10, 2008 8:23 am

Well fellow football fans, here we are looking at Terrell Owens 3rd season in Dallas.  Wow, if you had read all the hype a couple of years ago, T.O. wouldn't be here 1year, much less 3.  What happened to the guaranteed prediction of a T.O. blow-up in Dallas?  It was just going to be a couple of months, right?  He wasn't going to like Drew Bledsoe, and if they put an unknown guy named Tony Romo in as QB, he would surely be unhappy and blow-up.  Didn't happen.  I'm not surprised.  There are several reasons for this in my mind:

1.  T.O. had matured greatly since coming here from the fiasco he caused in Philly.

2.  T.O. and the owner Jerry Jones have a good, solid working relationship.

3.  T.O. realized in that Giants game 2 seasons ago just how great Tony Romo was going to be.

and lastly,

4. T.O. loves being a Dallas Cowboy!

There are players from other teams I'm sure that would love to play for the Dallas Cowboys but know they cannot, therefore turning their jealosy into hatred (ie when T.O. was with the 49ers and Eagles).  T.O. is genuinely happy here and I see him retiring as a Dalls Cowboy!

The T.O. blowup is just a myth here in Dallas!

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

How long was T.O. on the 49ers before he started it?  We've heard the same thing from the Eagles fans when they picked T.O. up, it was his 2nd season when TO started his bs. Of course I think Rosenhaus just sped up the process.  Difference between the Cowboys and the Eagles, he went into the Eagles believing with an experience QB that he could get the ring.  When they failed, he blamed McNabb on being sick.  Let's just wait an see this year,  if the Cowboys fail to see how TO reacts.

Of course, TO starts making waves on the Cowboy, I'm sure he realizes that it's probably his last team in the NFL.

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

Having followed a couple of 2008 blowups, I have come to the conclusion that the real ringleader in the T.O. Philly Fiasco was not T.O. but rather his (at that time) new agent: Drew Rosenhaus.

Did you not hear and read many times this past summer that Chad Johnson was "taking a page out of T.O.'s playbook" when he went on a cross-country Trade Me Tour? Is it just a coincidence that his agent is also Drew Rosenhaus? And then there was Jeremy Shockey's divorce from the New York Giants. Got kind of ugly there at the end. Oh, did I mention Shockey's agent is Drew Rosenhaus?

You know what I think? I think T.O. isn't the only one happy to be a Dallas Cowboy. Rosenhaus is loving it too. Cause he knows that Jerry Jones won't be miserly with his money. I will say many things negative about Ol' Double J but the guy will never be unwilling to pay top dollar for a player he wants on his team! And that will keep Rosenhaus happy. And if Rosenhaus stays happy, T.O. stays happy.

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

I can totally understand your skeptism although I believe most people expected it way before now.  Remember though, T.O. has been part of the past 2 playoff losses with last year's being the most devistating having home field throughout and a great regular season.  He handled those with class.

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

I'm not totally convinced...right now T.O is behaving because the Cowboys have basically had winning seasons since he came in, and he's mature enough to know that it takes time.  But what happens at the end of this year or next if they don't get past the playoffs?  I don't believe leopards change their spots and his performance in both SF and  Philly leave me skeptical.  I want to see how he continues to handle these situations before I tag T.O. as a changed man.

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

Yes Sadurtimes,  I took the right team and it just happened to be the Cowboys.  I admit I wasn't all that thrilled in the beginning that he was in Dallas, but now I can't imagine the Cowboys without him.

The T.O. Blow-up: Just a myth in Dallas

That is a great blog CC. All it took was the right team for Terrell Owens. As you have stated very clearly, that team is the Dallas Cowboys.
