morning after: thoughts on chargers vs. raiders

The Chargers found a way to get it done against the Raiders, it was not pretty, but I would take an ugly win over a pretty loss. The bolts were down 15-0 by halftime and were basically outplayed through three quarters but then LaDainian Tomlinson got going and the defense started making plays and the bolts were able to beat the raiders for the 10th straight time. Here are my thoughts on the game:

So Philip Rivers is mortal, he played so well the first few weeks i forgot he could have bad games. He made some mistakes and threw some dumb passes, but what i liked is that he didnt let the bad throws phase him and he was still able to play well and get a nice touchdown throw to Antonio Gates. Now what i really liked about this game was ladainian tomlinson and how by the end he was looking like his old self. He had two touchdowns that werent just short 1 yarders, and the one from about 13 yards out was a thing of beauty. I think he may finally be back at around 100% and we could be seeing more of the old LT. Darren Sproles had a much more limited role but was still able to get some big run backs on special teams.

The defense stepped it up big time, the raiders were given plenty of oppurutunies to score but for the most part the defense held on. I really liked how we made two goal line stops and forced them to kick field goals. Also the defensive line is finally starting to bring the heat to quarterbacks which is huge for our defense. But the biggest thing was that the d was able to provide for two vital turnovers that put the chargers in a position to win the game. If the defense keeps playing like it did this week the chargers will win alot of games

Overall it was a good game for the chargers but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Hopefully we have a good game against the Dolphins and go above .500 for the first time this season

go bolts!

The Chargers are the team to beat in the NFL.  They are 1 play (Carolina) and 1 bad call (Denver) from being undefeated.  What's scary is that they haven't played up to their potential yet.
