morning after: thoughts on chargers vs. dolphins

Posted on: October 6, 2008 7:30 pm

So how do i say this nicely? Oh forget nice, I'm just gonna say it, the Chargers sucked sunday against the Dolphins. I mean they really sucked, on offense and on defense they sucked. Ronnie Brown absolutely dominated our defense, and Chad Pennington showed just how efficient he could be when he had all the time in the world. Here are some thoughts on yesterdays game

The bolts defensive line is pathetic, i mean they are putting absolutely no pressure on the quarterback and because of that chad was able to be ridiculously efficient and completed almost all of his passes. If the d-line doesnt step up and start forcing the qb to throw then the chargers arent going anywhere. Also our run defense was not at all good which was obvious  since ronnie brown was able to absoultely run all over us. Hopefully our defense comes together and starts playing tough.

Offensively we were dominated by the phins defense, their defense was amazing yesterday. They shut down LaDainian Tomlinson and made Philip Rivers look like a complete deer caught in the headlights. I dont really understand how we played this bad since we have been so impressive offensively during the season. Hopefully the bolts step it up in every facet of their game next week in our big showdown against the hated Patriots

The Chargers are still getting killed by other teams schemes. It seems that they can't make adjustments before halftime. By then we have to come from behind and as we saw Sunday that doesn't always happen. I agree with you about the d-line, we are getting almost no pushup the middle so everyone can key on the outside rushers.

On offense they can't let Rivers get used as a pinata and expect him to be accurate. He missed more open receivers than I have seen in a long time. If you don't have to respect the pass you won't be able to run. We have to have this one against the Pat's to get back on track.

I thought the Charger would make quick work of the Dolphins too.  The Chargers didn't look sharp even sluggish.  Do you think it could have been the long trip and change in time zones?  I noticed in the post game interview with LT he looked tired. But maybe he just wanted to leave.  I'm sure he and the team were disappointed too.  I'm at a loss for what happened.

dont worry, my loyality and love is still with the chargers and i still see them as a top team. But honestly this game was just sad for the bolts. they should have creamed the dolphins, and its disappointing to see the bolts not to live up to their potential

Relax, the sky isn’t falling down.  Yes, the Chargers lost, but they didn’t play a good game as a team.  The Dolphins only put up 17 points, so the defense didn’t due all that poorly.  The offense on the other hand, played down to their potential because they are certainly capable of much better.  I didn’t like the Chargers offense play selection and thought the run/pass ratio was poor.  That’s on the coaching staff, not the players.  I didn’t think LT had enough opportunities, and when given looks didn’t take full advantage of them.  I know the feeling on Monday morning is a bummer but it’s still early in the season and there is time to bounce back.  A win next week is like the aspirin for your Monday hanger today.   Good luck next week against the Patriots.
