In a game so many of us felt the Cards needed to win in order to establish themselves as a true playoff contender.......The Cards did just that, win and win big! The game marked the 1st time in the HALL OF FAME career of Edgerrin James where he didn't start(or play). As i stated in an earlier post, it was important for ARIZONA to do a better job on the ground, and they were able to do exactly that. Rushing 1/2 the time for a total of 177 yards! With a whopping 38:38 time of possession! Tim Hightower rushed 22 times for 107 yard including a 30 yard run with less than 2 minutes to go in the 1st half. The Cards came out and drove 90 yards to the Ram goal line. After a touchdown was challenged, the Cards went with a qb sneak??? I dont want Warner getting touched!!! The Rams stopped them after a 7+ minute drive. Then it was back to the zany,no excuses mistakes. Derek Stanley made a fantastic catch on Eric Green coverage....Green was so shocked he FORGOT to tackle Stanley resulting in an 80 yard TD. Not finishing a tackle as been a point of contention, and it was there too!......Then something happened.....The Cards took total control of the game... Antrel Rolle picked off a pass and ran 40 yards for a huge TD and momentum changer......After a Rackers 36 yard field goal gave ARIZONA the lead....The Cards did a great job driving 92 in 5 plays, capped off by the 30 yard TD run by Hightower. The Rams then went into a PREVENT OFFENSE. Running 3 plays for a total of 30 seconds giving the all back to Arizona....after a no gain pass to Arrington....Warner threw a pass in the direction of Urban that looked like a pick to Jonathan Wade the ball was juggled and wound up bouncing to Urban who ran for the 56 yard TD...... The 2nd half was run very well by ARIZONA ....they were able to run the ball well and ate the clock. Steven Jackson was a non factor rushing for just 17 yards on 7 carries and missing a Td catch.....he looked healthy, although maybe he had some tightness in his hamstring. Just because they ran the ball so well doesn't mean Warner wasn't his usual MVP self. Throwing for 342 yards and 2 td's. With so many divisional games coming up, ARIZONA can control it's own destiny! The next step is a MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game at home against SAN FRAN who's 2 games back. Is this a playoff team? we shall see!!!!
