A few weeks ago, I asked you, "What's the worst song ever?" and I got some great responses. I have compiled a list of 164 of the worst from your nominations and with some help from Bricktop's blog entry "Jukebox from Hell" and a couple of other sources on the web. I tried to keep it fair... a few of my favorite songs are included in the list, and I don't think any band or artist is on it for more than 3 songs. You will probably disagree with some of the songs included, and I'm sure there are some omissions as well, but hey, who's perfect? I have split them into 8 divisions (named after NFL divisions) of 16 songs each. This will take a fairly long time to determine a "winner", but I'm sure it will be worth it.

For round 1, there will be four songs in each group. Please choose up to two songs from each group. Hopefully, there will be enough voting that we can get through each region in a week or so. I will not be voting unless there is a tie. Your vote won't count if you choose more than 2 songs from a group, so please don't do it. If you have a strong stomach and don't know all the songs on the list, I'm sure you could find most of them on youtube, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Without further ado, let the Tourney begin!

          Group A

  • Photograph, Nickelback
  • Run Joey, Run, David Geddes
  • She’s Like the Wind, Patrick Swayze
  • Candyman, Sammy Davis Jr.

          Group B

  • Sundown,  Gordon Lightfoot
  • Cha-Cha Slide, Mr. C.
  • True, Spandau Ballet
  • Candle in the Wind, Elton John

         Group C

  • Cars, Gary Numan
  • Who Let the Dogs Out,  Baha Men
  • Hanging Tough, New Kids on the Block
  • My Heart Will Go On, Celine Dion

          Group D

  • Wannabe, Spice Girls
  • Invisible,  Clay Aiken
  • Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,  Wham
  • How am I Supposed to Live Without You, Michael Bolton

Remember, you are voting for the worst 2 songs from group A, then the worst 2 from group B, etc. Thanks, I hope you enjoy it.

YO

This round is now over. Round 1 part 2 will be open until around 12/7/08. Thanks.

I'm a big Beatles fan too and liked Maybe I'm Amazed a lot.

That song is not a Beatles song. It is song written by paul McCartney. Sung solo and with his band "Wings"

Lennon

???

I never said it was a Beatles song.  My point was that, although I like the Beatles, I generally despise McCartney's post-Beatles body of work, the exception being "Maybe I'm Amazed" (the only McCartney solo song to make Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," coming in at #338).  I even voted for "Maybe I'm Amazed" in Lazer_Wright's .

Fantastic idea, glad Lazer posted this on his.  I'm with some of the others...how come we can't move all of Group D forward and eliminate one of the others?  They're all just plain terrible.  Oh well....

A - She's Like The Wind, Run Joey, Run - both are just plain awful

B - Candle In The Wind, Cha-Cha Slide - I feel like vomitting every time I hear one of these

C - My Heart Will Go On, Hangin Tough - It's Celine Dion and New Kids, enough said

D - Wannabe, How am I supposed to Live Without You - Spice Girls and Michael Bolton...same as group C

Wow, this isn't what I would call sweet 16, to bad I can only vote for half of em.

Group A

I can't vote for Photograph, it's the worst Nickelback song but not the worst song ever. So.....

Run Joey, Run, David Geddes

She's Like the Wind, Patrick Swayze (give me a break)

Group B

I'm gonna stay away from Gordon Lightfoot, and Elton John is a whole catagory in itself, come on try to figure the worst Elton John song, far to many. That leaves:

Cha-Cha Slide, Mr. C.

True, Spandau Ballet

Group C

Can't count Gary Numan, he's bad on purpose. and Who Let the Dogs Out has it's uses.

Hanging Tough, New Kids on the Block

My Heart Will Go On, Celine Dion (I vote for all Celine Dion songs, automatic)

Group D

Can't pick just 2 here, so I'm just going from the top.

Wannabe, Spick Girls

Invisible,  Clay Aiken

Great thread iamyo, fun stuff
