Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers signing with the Chicago Bears is imminent, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday, citing an unnamed source.

The paper also said the Bears will hold a news conference later Friday to announce the singing of Peppers, running back Chester Taylor and tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

New England and Philadelphia have also made a push for Peppers, but Chicago is offering a higher annual salary, the Sun-Times said.

Report: Bears deal with Peppers is imminent

As a Packer fan I do not think I like this all that much.  I would not have minded seeing him in the Green and Gold for the right price but no sure I want him 200 miles or so south of Green Bay.  I guess it is a good thing we did not sign him but why couldn't he go to the AFC West or something.  At least it is not the Vikings.

Now, more than ever, we need to chore up our offensive line.  We may be facing this guy twice a year for a while!

Too bad they still have Drew Bledsoe, I mean Jay Cutler at QB.

I'm pumped for Peppers to join the team.  The biggets thing the Bears need now is some Offensive Line help.  Otherwise, they've really helped themselves so far.

Report: Bears deal with Peppers is imminent

You evidently have not watched the Bears much the past few years. Urlacher is a shell of his former self when he is actually healthy, and just plain kills them with his contract. This is an aging defense that just got older and added another huge contract. A desperate move by a desperate gm and coach that will ensure the Bears are bottom-feeders in the Central for years to come. Funny thing is, they will eventually have to trade Cutler for anything they can get just to get some draft picks. The only way this makes sense is if they get a no. 1 receiver for Cutler. But the offensive line is still very much in need of help.

Come to think about it, I would also trade Olsen... Tade for a first and late round pick,

If he's a "me" guy, then he'll have to put that aside if he's serious about trying to help lead the Bears to a Super Bowl.
That s**t will have to stop if he wants to WIN.

I suspect that they will try to get o-line help for Olsen.

If the Bears only had a 2nd rounder to trade - that pick went to Tampa Bay for the late Gaines Adams.

Cap space?  In an uncapped year?  Don't think so dude.  This is a no-risk signing.
