Knicks planning to part ways with Marbury

Posted on: September 24, 2008 4:33 pm

Newsday has learned, several persons with knowledge of the situation have indicated that the Knicks are planning to part ways with Stephon Marbury by the end of the week.

One caveat is the approval of Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan, who must sign off on yet another multimillion-dollar payoff for his NBA team.

Marbury is in the final year of his contract, which is to pay him $21.9 million. The Knicks will likely place Marbury on waivers and, once he clears, begin negotiating a buyout.

Marbury will then be free to sign with another team; the Miami Heat have a desperate need at point guard.

Knicks planning to part ways with Marbury

You and the rest of the Marbury haters can't be STUPID ENOUGH to believe that Chris Duhon should get starter minutes over Stephon. It's simply amazing how fans are suckered by the Marbury hating media. It's quite obvious that Marbury isn't a starter because of James Dolan. Dolan is calling the shots. D'Antoni isn't a moron. He knows Marbury is head over heels better than Duhon in his offense. Don't ever forget how Dolan treated Camby, Spree and LJ towards the end of their Knick careers.

Careful what you wish for. There might be a0 PLAYOFF teams lining up to sign Marbury knowing full well he is playing for a contract. If you don't like Marbury right now, you will hate Walsh and the Knick organization watching Marbury in the playoffs for a team like the Lakers or Heat. So we have to see how this soap-opera plays out.
