Hot off of the heels of our wildly successful "Hate Bowl 2008", it's time to test the mettle of the College Football Bowl Season.  Welcome to "INSIGNIFICANT BOWL 2008".

A number of posters at the Hate Bowl expressed interest in a bowl season contest.  So here's my take on it.  There are 34 bowls this year, meaning SIXTY-EIGHT teams received a bid to a bowl game.  Now let me first say that I'm all in favor of rewarding good performance, but seriously, take a look at ANY 6-6 team and make a good argument to me that they deserve to go bowling.  THAT'S rewarding extreme mediocrity.  Well, that's enough of my rant.  Let's get down to "bidness".

I have listed each and every bowl game below.  My intent is to do this "Heisman" style.  You give me (in order, worst first) the five bowl games you consider to be the most insignificant.  I don't care what your criteria is.  Heck, the Heisman voters don't have a criteria, why should we?  Just rank 'em and spank 'em.  Point totals will be 5 for first place, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth, and a single, lousy point for fifth.

As always, we welcome your candid and humorous comments.  Please, just keep 'em clean.    To post your votes, just add a comment to this blog.

And now, here are our party guests (payoffs in parentheses, followed by network).

Ahhhhhhh another fun time to be had by all... this shouldnt be to hard.. I mean really with 34 bowls how many are really insignificant?  Half? Maybe more?    So I submit to you my top 5

1. Hawai'i Bowl  Honolulu, HI:  Hawai'i (7-6) vs. Notre Dame (6-6)    Ughhhh ND shouldnt even be bowling at 6-6 should they? Seriously if you are a ND fan arent you just a little embarrassed that you end up in Hawaii.. playing the home team that oh ya btw is a also ran WAC team!  I wouldnt of fired Fat Charlie for the season but my guess is they lose this and for that I would fire him.. he would of been better served to decline and just be honest and state "we dont deserve a bowl this year based on how we played so we wont be going"  It might just have saved his job!

2.St. Petersburgh Bowl  St. Petersburgh, FL:  South Florida (7-5) vs. Memphis (6-6) A SF team that went 2-5 in the weak big east verus a 4-4 confernce record Memphis who is 6-6 overall and 5th overll in CUSA oh ya get out the popcorn and wings I want wait to watch this one! lol

3. International Bowl  Toronto, Ontario, Canada:  Connecticut (7-5) vs. Buffalo (8-5)  Another bad Big East team that could only muster a 3-4 conference record and you take away the BIG wins against Hofstra and the OT win (12-9) versus mighty Temple and this team is 5-5 versus a feel good story Buffalo team (first bowl in 40 years and they turned down an invite to that one 40 years ago due to racism.. if you dont know the story I suggest you look into it) that comes from the bad side (east) of the MAC... in Canada no less.. what will it be like -40 there? Ya lets tailgate to that shall we? ( I believe it was 19 there today as a high lol)

4. Fiesta Bowl  Glendale, AZ:  Texas (11-1) vs. Ohio State (10-2)  I know some of you will say WHAT?  A BCS game here... but lets face it that Ohio State team is to blame here!  What exactly have they done in the last 2 BCS games they played in?  Ya thats right get totally embarrassed! 82 total yards for the game Versus Fla and aq 3-13 3rd down conversion rate verus LSU where it was never really close after LSU's speed spanked em for 21 in the 2nd quarter... great now we get to watch a ticked off "we should be playing for the NC" Texas take out all that frustration on a hapless Ohio State that doesnt have any quality wins and got blown out by USC early..  My guess is Tressell will never accept another BCS bid again after Texas stomps em 52 to 10 and thats with a mercy rule thrown in!

5. Independence Bowl  Shreveport, LA:  Louisiana Tech (7-5) vs. Northern Illinois (6-6)  How do these two teams warrant 1.1 mill a piece for this game?  The #4 WAC team (ya really they are #4 in the WAC wow.. impressive) and the #4 team from the MAC west!   The Northern Illini had a big win against Kent State to get bowl eligible in the second to last game of the season and La Tech lost to Idaho(2-10) along the way and barely beat a 3-9 Idaho to make sure they got to go bowling!  Good things it Louisana or no one would be at this one.. I promise no one for Illinois is going! lol

Got it, Panzer.

About the underwear, it's just all so confusing now.  Charlie Weiss' thong, your knickers, and swimsuit models.  I can never tell who's wearing what anymore.

Der Panzer is in da house.

Question for your rankings mean 5 points for New Orleans or is New Orleans in 5th place?

Shame, shame on you for your dastardly comment.
