Carter on Cavs' radar?

Posted on: December 20, 2008 7:59 pm

An item on a competing sports and entertainment network's website stated that the Nets' Vince Carter is on the Cavaliers' list of players they're interested in acquiring.

Intriguing. Juicy, even. Big name, prominent team, a potentially blockbuster trade. Alas, it's just another rumor.

I spoke Saturday with an executive-level source who has knowledge of both teams' activities, and he reported that the Cavs and Nets have not discussed a Carter swap in any form. In fact, the Nets and Cavs haven't discussed any type of trade in a month and a half.

Numerous teams around the league will be calling Cleveland between now and the Feb. 19 trade deadline, so be prepared for more rumors -- both substantiated and unsubstantiated -- to fly. The reason is the Cavs have two players they need to make decisions on -- Wally Szczerbiak, whose $13 million expiring contract is a valuable chip, and Anderson Varejao, who has a player option for 2009-10.

Carter on Cavs' radar?

there aren't enough basketballs in cleveland for both lebron and vince to be simultaneously shooting it.  as for "wince" in toronto, i've got to say, toronto went a lot farther with vince than it ever has without him.  the year they were in the playoffs with him, he really played pretty well, including the game where he hit like 8 consecutive threes in the first half.  it's fine to be bitter that he left, but t-mac left over there too, and i think toronto really got some of those players good years.  the team that should be disappointed in vince is new jersey, because he never really performed in the playoffs there, and he just hasn't been very efficient.....poor fg %, settling for deep jumpers, and allowing other players to take responsibility (including credit or blame) in the clutch.  if he would just go to the rack and draw fouls, and use that freakish athleticism to play some "d", he would be a very valuable player!

Carter on Cavs' radar?

As a Celtic's fan I say "Go get him!"! He would be a terrible fit for their team.  They already have a ball-hog!  Fortunately for the Cav's there ball-hog is pretty good, as long as he stays away from that 3 point line!

Agreed, he really never has accomplished much. He is still good for the dunk contest but thats about it.

Carter on Cavs' radar?

i hope the cavs realize carter's a baby, that tips off his own team's plays.  the cavs should seriously consider making a trip to t dot and ask some random raptors fans how much useful wince carter was in the playoffs.

Carter on Cavs' radar?

The cavaliers could use a veteran, but carter is not a wise choice. What the cavaliers really need is an experienced 4 man with solid perimeter and inside defense and a mid range game if needed. Look for Carlos Boozer being interested in returning to cleveland opting out of his contract with utah.
