LeBron not going to like this Ray Allen pick

Commissioner David Stern has selected Ray Allen to replace Jameer Nelson in the All-Star Game. That gives the Celtics three All-Stars, and keeps the Cavaliers with one.

LeBron James is not going to like this.

If you read this, you know where LeBron stands on this topic. Having one All-Star when the other elite teams have at least two each is a "smack in the face," he said.

Allen is very deserving. It's his ninth All-Star selection, and he's averaging 18.1 points, 2.8 assists, and is shooting 50 percent from the field and 41 percent from three. Mo Williams is averaging 17.1 points, 4.2 assists, and is shooting 46 percent from the field and 39 percent from three.

Mo has been a huge part of what's made the Cavs dominant this season. But I'm sorry, LeBron. This was the right choice. Regardless of how many All-Stars or perceived All-Stars are on each team, Allen deserves to be on.

I had Allen and Nelson on my All-Star reserves -- Nelson at guard and Allen at the wild-card spot with Devin Harris. So with Nelson hurt, I would've had a spot for Williams. If the coaches had voted like me and I were the commissioner, the choice would've been between Williams and David Lee. In that case, I probably would've chosen Williams.

Under the circumstances, Allen is the right choice. If LeBron wanted to play with a lot of All-Stars, he should've asked Leon Rose to get him traded to the Celtics.

David Lee comes in night in and out and puts up double doubles. He is truely one of the elite. These two are possible additions but Lee should have a spot cemented on that team.

You're right, the league doesn't revolve around LeBron, but don't tell that to the folks over at ESPN, or the NBA for that matter.  He's the lead story on a night when 2 top 10 college basketball teams got upset, and his games are given way more time for highlights than a lot of others on a nightly basis.

Don't know if anybody saw but on this morning's SportsCenter during the Top 10 Plays the two broadcasters spent the whole time whining about how Lebron's play was only #8 and not #1.  They literally watched every highlight and made comments like "well it's a nice play but it's no LeBron" and made it clear that the two of them were not involved in the decision making process for the Top 10 Plays.

I get it that they want to show the stars and promote them, but it is just over the top with LeBron especially when you've got several guys in the league of equal caliber who make just as many highlight reel plays.

The only problem I have with picking Ray Allen is that the person he replaced (Jameer Nelson) is a PG; and Mo Williams is having a great season at the point for the Cavs, so you should replace one PG for another, especially with such a minimal stat difference between Allen and Williams.

Larry Bird wasn't a "Prima Donna"?  Jordan wasn't a "Prima Donna"?  Actually, MJ was "MR. Prima Donna" if I recalled correctly.  And no, Lebron doesn't own the NBA, but he has just as much of a right to voice out his opinion as you and I do.  Ray Allen deserves a spot on the All Star team, but so does Mo Williams.  Believe it or not, and I know this is hard to believe for you Non- Cavs fans.  But take it from someone that has actually watched most of their games this season, the Cavs aren't where they are at JUST because of Lebron.  The Cavs have the deepest squad in the league, it's how they have been able to maintain everything, despite injuries to key players.  And oh yeah, Mo Williams has also been playing some good defense.  Imagine that, before the season began I kept reading so many "experts" say Mo can't play D, I guess they were wrong, eh?

So... Berger is just looking to make LeBron a whiner... Sure I'll believe it If LeBron comes out and complains. But did anybody watch the All-Star game last year? Ray Allen won the game for the east, and LeBron knows this, as evidence as when James was excepting his All-Star MVP award last year... his acceptence speech was basically "why are you giving this to me, Ray Allen deserves it"

Since when does it matter whether LeBron likes it or not? He's not the entire NBA. He doesn't set the rosters. Maybe he thinks he's the Tiger Woods of the league and everything NBA revolves around him, but news flash: it doesn't. Just shut up and play, LeBron.

Most of the league realizes that the Cavs built their record by beating garbage teams for the most part.  So why should the league bow down to Mo Williams when a guy like Ray Allen, a proven winner, deserves to be there as much as anyone.

Lebron should just worry about winning something that matters, not the All-Star Game, not the Yankees, not the Browns, not the New York Media...etc.

WOW!!!!!I just now realized that James was the head of the NBA!!!He is not going to like his teamate not being picked to the game??? Perhaps he will boycott the game now?? Maybe he will even hold his breath till Stern changes his mind? Such prima donnas now in pro basketball. Bring back Bird, Jordan, and all the players that were here to just win championships, not pout if things do not go their way!!!!!!!!!!
