Shaq is back

The on-again, off-again trade proposal that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland to do for LeBron James what he did for Kobe Bryant is ... you guessed it ... on again.

The key components have been discussed since the February trade deadline, and you must know them by heart at this point. The Cavs get Shaq, and the Suns get cap relief (not to mention Shaq relief). The cap relief comes in the form of Ben Wallace's $14 million expiring contract -- which could expire sooner than we think if Big Ben was serious about retiring and taking a buyout -- and Sasha Pavlovic, who has only $1.5 million of his $4.9 million for 2009-10 guaranteed.

If essentially the same package has been discussed on and off for four months, what's the problem? Word is that Danny Ferry wants to fully explore what those expiring contracts will yield and will strike when the time is right and it's clear he's gotten the best offer. The Suns, not willing to give up on regaining a spot among the Western Conference elite, want something more than cap relief. Short of future draft picks from the Cavs, the only way to accomplish that is to recruit a third team.

Shaq is back

It's official. Cavs get the Shaqtus. WOW! LBJ and Shaq wearing the same uniform. Scary!!! But I really wonder how long Shaq's knees are going to be able to hold out. I see him skipping about 15-20 games during the season just to make sure he doesn't wear out before playoff time. If the Cavs can't win a championship with this combo, Mike Brown might be mentioned in the same breath as Flip Saunders. And if this combo doesn't work, then Cleveland really is cursed.

Shaq is back

As a Heat fan, I hope the cavs take Shaq, The implotion will take 30-40 games until Shaq calls Lebron his little brother and requests a separate locker for himself. But, I am a nice guy and hope not to see the Cavs go through with this. This guy is liable to last 40 games only on age and trying to prove something.  How long until Shaq makes a "rap" involving a teammate...

Shaq is back

I think Shaq would help them and I think he will make them better. It's better than nothing. I mean they may have the MVC, MVP and best record, but other than Lebron their team sucks. The coach said it himself. He doesn't think they could win 40 games without Lebron. Heck, I don't even think they could win 20 games without Lebron. When Jordan left the Bulls; they won 55 games and lost to the eventuall Eastern Champion Knicks in 7 games. Jordan had much better talent around him than Lebron. If they stand pat with the current team than James will leave next season. They've got to add more pieces and so far Shaq is the only guy they really have a chance at getting.

Shaq is back

Shaq is washed up the Cavs think getting Shaq will solve all their problems they are dreaming. Having the best Record in the NBA having the coach of the year and last but not least the MVP of leauge in Lebron and having nothing to show for it must suck for Cavs fans all over.

Shaq is back

Yea, we helped Shaq more than he helped us, but we still can't blame him for our failures this season. Overall, Sarver and Kerr are the ones to blame. We got Shaq into good shape and he did his part, but he and my Suns just didn't mix. Time to move on. Cleveland will be a better fit for him.

Shaq is back - Get 'er done.

For goodness sake, get this done. Although I know there are people who believe Shaq is all that, it is time for this ship to sail and time for the Suns to rebulid. Rumor has it that Kerr will be gone soon as the organization has been grooming a new guy.
Cleveland will get one good year out of Shaq thanks to the conditioning he has received here. It's all the Cavs (might) need.
