Knicks receptive to Miller-Duhon trade

Posted on: July 11, 2009 6:38 pm

LAS VEGAS -- The Knicks are receptive to overtures from Andre Miller's agent to arrange a sign-and-trade that would swap the free-agent point guard for Chris Duhon, CBSSports.com has learned.

Miller's agent, Andy Miller, is pushing for a sign-and-trade to New York in response to the Sixers' lack of interest in bringing the 33-year-old point guard back. The Sixers have expressed a willingness to offer no more than a one-year deal at the $5.9 million mid-level exception. But a person with knowledge of the situation said Philadelphia was lukewarm about even that proposal. The Sixers' brass is ready to move on with Lou Williams at point guard and first-round pick Jrue Holiday backing him up.

The Knicks view Miller as an upgrade over Duhon, a person with knowledge of their plans said. But New York is not willing to go beyond two years on Miller's new contract.

Another team long rumored to have interest in Miller is Portland. But NBA front office sources say the Blazers are not actively pursuing Miller due to their concerns about his age and below-average perimeter shooting.

It's time for the Sixers to move on.  They need to let Lou Williams run the team.  The Sixers need a dominate scorer and big man

andre miller is a fundamentaly sound ballplayer who has helped teams get better. i think if the new york knicks can get rid of chris duhon, they will give their first round pick toney douglas some playing time in his first year. id rather have douglas learning the game from miller over duhon/nate robinson. this will be a good trade if it goes through.

I think Andre Miller would be a big upgrade for the New York Knicks. Let's face it. Would we want Toney Douglas learning the game from Chris Duhon or Nate Robinson??? Andre Miller is the perfect guy to teach Douglas how to play the game with a fasdter tempo. Solid move for the knicks if it is made

A sign and trade for the Knicks to get Andre Miller and trade away Chris Duhon is a ploy by Miller's agent to get more money.  The Knicks will be stupid to trade Duhon for Miller.  After all, Isaih Thomas is gone, right?  The 76ers do not need Duhon because they have Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday.  The knicks should keep Duhon and sign Miller to a two year contract.  That gives the Knicks depth at the point.  If Miller doesn't like that deal, he can sign with someone else, though it really appears that his choices are very limited, which is good news for the Knicks, unless they blow it.  Thomas might be gone, but Dolen is still around, so there will be a possibility of the Knicks blowing it.

That trade wouldn't go down because the Bulls don't need another PF in Boozer when they have Tyrus Thomas and drafted 2 more, even with Boozer being a major upgrade there. They also wouldn't give up their only decent backcourt backup who could fill minutes if injuries happen in Hinrich without getting a guard at least as good as him in return. This trade might be more apt to happen if you were working with a team like the Pacers who could use a post player like Boozer, sign-and-trade a point guard like Jack, send Troy Murphy to Utah, and send a big to NY like Jeff Foster. I could see the rest of that trade possibly working out, but I'm also not sure that Utah would want the headache known as Al Harrington. If he couldn't tolerate places as bland as San Francisco and Indianapolis as opposed to New York, I doubt that he could tolerate going to Utah. Otherwise, I could be happy with this trade for my Pacers.

Miller is definitely an upgrade from Duhon, Since the point guard market is thin i see this as a good move for 2 yrs. J Kidd and grant hill used the knicks to get more money from their respective teams.
