Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves didn't waste much time finding a replacement for Ricky Rubio.

Just days after Rubio backed out of a deal to play with Minnesota next season and opted instead to sign a six-year contract with FC Barcelona, the Timberwolves on Friday extended a four-year, $16 million offer sheet to restricted free agent Ramon Sessions. The former Bucks point guard signed the offer sheet Friday afternoon, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

The Bucks, who have point guards Brandon Jennings, Luke Ridnour, and Roko Ukic on the roster, are unlikely to match, the person said. Interesting aspect of the offer sheet: It includes a player option for the fourth year -- not a team option. A team option would've strengthened a growing belief around the league that the Timberwolves are working under the assumption that Rubio will stay in Spain for three years instead of two.

I'll explain: If Rubio agreed to a buyout after two years, his contract with Minnesota at that point would be subject to the rookie scale guidelines. If he waited until after the third year, he would no longer be restricted by rookie scale parameters and thus would be able to sign a far more lucrative deal. That situation evidently is not directly tied to the fourth year of Sessions' deal.

Sessions can play off the ball and should be a good fit in the backcourt with rookie Jonny Flynn, whom team president David Kahn had penciled in as the starting point guard earlier this week when the Rubio situation was resolved. But adding Sessions also gives first-year coach Kurt Rambis the option of starting Sessions at point guard and taking the pressure off Flynn to contribute immediately as a starter.

Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

This was a great move for the lowely T-Wolves.  This kid has immense talent.  I think a lot of people will be suprised just how good of a season he has now that he will have the minutes.  Anyone who maybe doesn't know about this guy look back at some of his stats not last season but the season before.  At the end of the year this nobody was given some minutes.  He nearly had 3 or 4 triple doubles and this was with the very horrible Bucks.  Last season idiot Scott Skiles couldn't decide between him and Ridnour and whoever else they had over there and his minutes were never steady "starter" minutes.  On a side note this is why the Bulls sent Skiles packing... he is a horrible coach, I think Bucks fans will agree with me there.  Anyway, in Minnesota he will be given full time minutes and actually will have a big man to feed in Big Al Jefferson.  Even with Skiles in town he did have a very solid year last year.  I would not be at all suprised, and neither should any of you, that Sessions averages, as a starter, 18 points and 11 assists and 5 rebounds a game.  This kid is THAT good.  I know there will be people who laugh at those numbers but for those doubters, save this post somewhere in the back of your mind and lets revisit this waaaaay down the road at the end of the next basketball season and see just how close I am.  I bet its a pretty similair line.

Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

The fact that Minnesota is going after Sessions must mean that they know Ricky Rubio isn't going to play for them at all, even when he comes over from Spain in two years.

Is this my t-pups, making decent moves?  Not too familiar w/ the guy but his stats indicate he is solid.  I'd be unhappy if he plays terrible D tho.  If he turns out okay, we have 2 nice PGs in him and Flynn, then we can give all the Knick fans what they want in whiny headcase Rubio - just get some talent to us in return, which means we'll need a 3rd team involved.  I am liking the make-up of this squad.  Maybe next year we can find a talented SG.  Add my favorite player Gomes to that list of young solid players on the wolves.  Hopefully we can make a run at the play-offs next year.

Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

I'm not going to lie, I don't know much about Sessions, and I know the Bucks were somewhat beat up last season.  What I do know about is superstars, and the fact of the matter is, no matter who you get to surround a player, they will still be a superstar.  Take the Heat for example; obviously, Dwayne Wade is their sperstar, and the Heat are a pretty young team.  Dwayne still was putting up MVP numbers and had them in the playoffs.  So if Kobe, Lebron, Dirk whoever played on a crappy team they'd still produce big numbers.

Now to the subject at hand.  The T'Wolves are dumb for picking up Rubio top 5 anyway.  If you wanted someone to build a struggling team around theyshould've just picked Flynn up, and picked up Derozan 6th.  Now you have an athletic backcourt to balance that force in the paint that is Al Jefferson.  With K-Lo at center and Brewer at the 3.  The Wolves would have been looking pretty nice.  But I guess I'll just head back to my video game franchise.

The Timberwolves don't have a shot in hell of even making the Western Conference Finals, and probably not the playoffs, but Sessions IS going to be a stud. I will give you that. Just check out his games where he got 30+ minutes last season. Top notch.

Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

Sessions is good but he will never be an MVP. He will be a solid PG/SG for them for years to come, but a superstar? no way! I do wish the Bucks will match the offer because sessions has potential to be a poor mans Jason Kidd. If they do not match the offer I think the Wolves got a good player for a long time for not much money. If it were not for the econmy he would have made alot more $.

Sessions signs offer sheet with T-Wolves

Sessions is as good as advertised. He came from the Nevada Wolf Pack and left early for the NBA, where he was subsequently drafted in the 2nd Round by the Bucks.  With some decent minutes and a quality supporting cast, you will be suprised at how good he really is.

Not trying to be a homer,
But watch, Sessions is going to win MVP and the are going to win the Finals against the Cavs.
Sessions is a superstar level player, but he has only gotten to play with a bad supporting cast.
