Bosh sign-and-trade done

Posted on: July 9, 2010 6:52 pm

The Raptors and Heat have agreed to the framework of a sign-and-trade arrangement that will complete Chris Bosh's departure for Miami to join Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to CBSSports.com Friday.

"It's pretty much done," the person said.

Toronto will get multiple draft picks, including a 2011 first-round pick that was previously traded to the Heat, and a trade exception -- but no players. Bosh, who along with Wade committed to joining the Heat on Wednesday, will get a six-year deal as opposed to the five-year contract he would have been eligible for through a straight signing.

Agent Henry Thomas, who represents both Wade and Bosh, said there has been steady progress in contract talks with Miami for both players.

U gotta be 1 dumb can-nut

Listing a euro player as an example of players wanting to play in Toronto is so ignorant. And then to top it off with a (1) baseball player is even more stupid.

This is about basketball and if you must be told Shaq was shipped away from LA. He left kicking and whinning. TO MIAMI!

Name 2 American free agent star basketball players who have signed with Toronto and wanted to stay. Miami is an international metro WITH A BEACH, NOT AN ICE BLOCK!

Culture, Arts and kids are not things 20-something year old millionaires think about very much. Since most NBA players ARE American who are you yelling about?

Let's see: America. And I like Canada but this is about your thought process.

Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, San Francisco  St. Louis ect. are not hick towns. Come to America, see why much of the world wants to come here.  I see every week the hordes of people from the USA and other countries moving to Toronto and Canada. Well, not really.

To talk of hick towns in a country whose name at one time meant "village" and where 20 percent of the population lives in 2 metro area is very foolish.

Canada has what, 3 times as many people as Florida? No, only twice the number. People in Texas and Florida  outnumber ALL people in Canada even though Canada is larger than the USA.

Canada has 3 metro areas with more than 2 million people and 27 US states TOP that. Where should that hick word be pointed?

Just accept that NBA  star players are not very interested in Toronto. Don't post lame, weak statements that clearly NBA players do not agree with.

How is this a sign and trade if he never signed with Toronto or got traded?

Because he will sign the deal with Toronto and then be traded as part of that deal to Miami. Do you know how sign and trades work? You know they didn't have their names on the contracts yet right?

Oh yeah, I'm sick and tired about hearing how LeBron is taking a back seat and took a pay cut in the deal.  He'll make 100M for 5 years.  He would have made 125M in 6 with the CAVS.  Either way it's about 20M a year and without having to pay state tax in Florida he breaks even or makes more money in Miami. Even without a 6th year, I'm sure he'll find a team to play with in 2016.
Bosh will take a back seat roll, get more rebounds than points while D.Wade and LeBron school average teams.  I wonder how they will do so against Lakers and Celtics who have great big men and can control the pace of the game...
we'll see....Next year's playoffs will be fun to watch...

First the contract, if I'm not mistaken both Bosh and Lebron will be signing for 6 years at 110 mill and Wade for 6 at 107 mill...at least that's the reports. Funny if Wade took less than the other 2.

I don't think Lebron will necessarily take a back seat. But he'll be sharing the front seat for sure. The problem most see with this deal is Lebron will now never be considered one of the greats. Even if he wins 6 titles he'll have done so with the help of Bosh and Wade. He couldn't bring a team a championship. He is just another part to help another team win.

Looks like Paul Morin doesn't know a thing about basketball.

I disagree with you on all three counts. Chris is an above average player who can score, rebound, and defend. Raptors will never be that good without him and all Jose Calderon is an average player at best.

I totally agree.  Bosh is a complete bust, but think that he was the smartest one out there.  Now he can sit back and watch LeBron & D.Wade take them to the Eastern Finals in year one and probably the Finals with a few extra veterens on the squad.  He'll only have to average about 15 a game (maybe less) and cruise to a ring (maybe a few) and enjoy life South Beach.
Personally, I think the Celtics will win the East next year, but we'll see...
