Nene re-signs with Nuggets

The Nuggets are keeping this free agent, agreeing to terms Tuesday night with Nene for five years and $67 million, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to CBSSports.com.

Nene attracted significant interest from the Nets, Rockets and Pacers, among others, but decided to stay in Denver on a day when the team acquired Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer from Dallas into the trade exception left behind from the Carmelo Anthony trade last February.

The next order of business for Denver, which still has room to do more shopping, is to re-sign restricted free agent Arron Afflalo. A person with knowledge of those discussions said the two sides were making "good progress" toward a deal Tuesday night.

Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri met with Nene and his representatives Monday night, one of several meetings the team has had with its free-agent big man. Other meetings have included owner Josh Kroenke and coach George Karl.

The Rockets had hoped to pair Nene with Pau Gasol, but a three-team trade sending Chris Paul from New Orleans to the Lakers fell through. The Nets targeted Nene in the free-agent market but also have been pursuing a trade for Magic center Dwight Howard, a 2012 free agent who has been given permission to discuss a potential trade with New Jersey, the Lakers and Dallas.

Nene re-signs with Nuggets

I am glad to see this. Nene is a quality person, so he is welcome to play for the Nuggets in my book. Is he worth $67M? I think if he plays in beast mode like he is capable of then yes. But when he is passive, he gets pushed around and is not aggressive on the boards.

Nice addition with Fernandez and Brewer as well. Add in 2 quality rookies (both 1st rounders), and the average age of this team is young.

Nene re-signs with Nuggets

Nene is proven to be one of the best Nuggets players, but 67 million dollars for five years.  WOW Nuggets. Nene is good but not that much money.

I understand why because you lost Carmelo and Chauncey.

Nene re-signs with Nuggets

Hey Berger, I believe you said Nene was 100% gone from Denver two weeks ago.  Once again it was a bergertale.  Gotta love the hype you build up.

Nene re-signs with Nuggets

On what planet is Nene worth 67 million???? As Rashard Lewis said if an owners going to offer me a huge amount of money who am i to turn it down. The owners screw themselves over and over again making deals like this. Nene is a solid player and its great for denver to retain his services but hes not worth 67 million.

Nene re-signs with Nuggets

I am surprised he went back to Denver. Forgot who the member was, but he was a Denver fan and told me up and down Nene was going to re-sign with the Nuggets. I said no a 100 different ways. I was wrong I guess. Sorry dude. lol. Denver is going to have a pretty good roster. Better than the Anthony years, especially if they can re-sign Afflalo.
