Disgruntled Jets fan Good Riddance Favre

I was so excited when the Jets  acquired Brett Favre before the season started but his last 5 games have left all of us Jets fans completely sick.

After an 8-3 start they finish the season by losing 4 of the last 5 games, in which Brett completed only about half of his passing attempts and turned the ball over 9 times versus 3 TDs (1 rushing) to bring his season long stat line to 10 fumbles, sacked 30 times, and threw as many INTs as TDs (22).

And what a fitting end to a terrible finish for the Jets and Favre this past Sunday -  With 17 seconds left in the game and the Jets backed up on their own goal line, needing a TD to tie, Mangini calls for the old 15 lateral Trinity Miracle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1CQPCf55LA. Favre passes it to Leon Washington only to receive the lateral back from Leon and a confused old Brett forward passes onto the field, earning the Jets a penalty for an illegal forward pass and earning Brett a spot on the bench for the last play of the Jets season.

I didn’t expect the Jets to score on the last play of the game and, as it turns out, even if the Jets won they wouldn’t have made the playoffs since both the Patriots  and Ravens won but at least I can say, “That’s the last one that Brett will ever leave on the carpet again.”

Everyone says, “It looks like Brett is always having a lot of fun out there!” To me it looks like he just doesn’t care and Mangini paid for Brett’s carelessness with his job this morning. Was it all Brett’s fault? Probably not, but I’ll be modest and give Favre at least 50% of the blame.

Growing up our family had a cat that we called Cindy Clawford. We called her that because she had, what looked like, a mole above her top lip like the famous model who she was named after. Cindy was an absolute sweetheart and lived a very long and full life, well into her 20s. Towards the end though she was really falling apart; lost a lot of weight, forgot where her litter bowl was, and would often leave her stools on the living room floor. We loved her so much that we lived with it for awhile but one day during the Holiday season many years ago; my parents were in the process of redecorating the house and my Dad was under a lot of pressure to get the project done before Christmas Day with the family. One night he came across one of Cindy’s steaming presents on the living room carpet. He was so stressed out and angry that he tossed her out into the cold by the scruff of her neck and she crawled under a bush and died. It was the last time that she left one on the carpet ever again.

As far as Brett’s future with the Jets and the NFL? As far as I’m concerned, I think its past time for Brett to return to his farm and crawl under a bush.

Interesting you are disgruntled about the Jets (with good reason) but proclaim to be a Yankees fan ( a team that will go down in history as the most under-achieving team in all of baseball).
I'm from NC so I don't pull for the Mets, Red Sox, or football Giants i just wondered about your logic.

1. Pennington will never amount to anything.

2. The Jets weren't going anywhere this year anyway, so at least they generated some interest and got people interested in watching.

3. Farve is a hall-of-famer with nothing to prove, if he wants to play and people are willing to pay him to play, good for him.

4. McCarthy is a jerk

I know it's very trendy to blame Favre for the collapse of the Jets, but the coach has just as much blame on his shoulders.  Favre has been in the league for 17 years; you know what you get with him.  If you have a friend who will eat all your candy if you leave it out, you soon learn not to leave it out.  Favre is gonna throw INT's if you ask him to drop back in the pocket and fling it 50 times a game.  The 8-3 start was because Eric Mangina managed Favre's passes with a healthy dose of Thomas Jones and Leon Washington.  Jones at one point was the leading rusher in the league.  What the hell happened?  With a homerun hitter like Washington in the backfield, you shouldn't pass more than 10-15 times a game, especially if you have Favre as your QB.  Don't get mad when a shark bites off your legs when you swim in his water; he's only doing what God intended.  Look at Ben Roethelisburger in Pittsburg.  You want a ground and pound game with him, and limit his chances to make the big mistake trying to make a play where there isn't one.  That's what needs to happen with Favre in the future when he comes to Dallas to relieve Romo of his duties.

Exactly! Poor play calling! Jones was a BEAST this year, but they still let Favre be a gunslinger instead of sticking with the run and it cost them. Favre has always been turnover prone, so the coach, off coordinator, and Favre all deserve some blame for getting away from what they did best!

I don't understand Jets fans or Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones made the pro bowl because Brett Farve can throw the ball down field. Jets were 4-12 a season ago and now 9-7 this year what an improvement from a year ago. Jets would have had to been 11-5 this year to make the playoffs that wasn't going to happen even with the 8-3 start. Now lets talk about Chad Pennington. Chad Pennington only played 80% under the center due to the wildcat system. Chad Pennington was the right QB just for the Dolphins system no other system wouldn't fit Pennington ability.

Speaking of Pennington, how is Delhomme not the CBP of the year?  Nothing against Chad but I just dont think that you can compare the two.  Jake came back from Tommy John which is unprecedented for a QB and only a few years ago was only about a 14% return for ball players who had the surgery.  Not to mention Jake did it in the most competitive division in football.  I mean the Falcons and Bucs were in the mix to win the division with 2/3 weeks left in the season.  Breese almost broke Marions passing record.  And Pennington didnt even have to compete against the Golden Boy this year.  Like I said I am happy for Chad and the Dolphins (and that the Pats are watching from home) but Delhomme was the clear choice for Come Back IMO.

As a Favre Respector for the last 10 years or so (since being a Huge Bears Fan, I can't like him, only respect him). This season I wanted him to have a huge year. First time I ever drafted him in a fantasy league. I never played him, because I had Brees as #1, but started out great, but seeing him in the last 5 or so games. He should have sat himself, bad - just plain bad.

Go home Brett, enjoy life, get a job in TV or something. Maybe even make a return as a coach with Holmgren when he returns. But one thing don't do is play NFL Football again. Joe "Willie" Namath looked bad at the end, Don't repeat that showing!

I feel your pain! I'm not a Jets fan, however being a Bills fan it was good to see Brett in the AFC East. He did in the beginning of the year make thing very interesting for ou division. It's to bad things didnt work out for him. Iloved to watch him play over the years. He has to be one of the best ever. But from one dissappointed Bills fan to a dissappointed Jets fan we still have our beloved Yankees. Better luck to you and your team next year and GO YANKEES!
